Baby Teresa and the Wisdom of Seventeen

“Go go go!”

Lurlene stomped her foot on the phantom gas pedal on the passenger side as the oncoming cars approached.

“Say it,” Randy smirked.

“We’re gonna get killed. Godsake Randy, you’re not seventeen anymore. We got a baby in the back.”

“Say it.”

“You’re the best driver. Ever.”

Randy chuckled, pounced on the gas and gave a self-satisfied nod as the old Charger glided into traffic and roared up to speed. “What do you think of that?”

Lurlene stared out the window and thought about leaving. Definitely. As soon as they got home.

But Randy was so damn hot.

  1. Fantastic imagery and pace. You know if he survives this, he’ll just get up to something worse. “Hey honey! Got me my pilot’s license!”

  2. Dear Karen,

Why is it some men think they’re the greatest thing on the road when, clearly, they’re dangerous? Believe me, I speak from the passenger’s voice of experience. 😉 Well done.

    Shalom,

There can’t be much more irresponsible than dicing with the life of a child, hot or not.

  9. Safety or hotness? A difficult choice for some, but I think the baby’s safety should trump the hotness in this case 🙂

In 100 words we detest Randy and despair for Lurlene (is that a real name?).

Yeah, it’s a curse being so hot. You can’t easily get rid of a woman. They cling, you know. What more can a guy do but put the woman and the baby at risk. And they still cling. I hope Lurlene gets out of there tonight. No waiting for the next time. This guy is bad news. Great story. I agree with ceayr. in 100 words we detest Randy and despair for Lurlene. Excellent!

  31. Is it fast cars and hot women, or hot cars and fast women? I’m always confused. I was a lead-foot at seventeen, but now I stomp the phantom brake on the passenger side when Connie gets above 60. Great story, Karen. I felt like I was right there in the car with the seat sucked up my rear. 🙂
