“What time are we meeting for dinner?”
“Rochelle said the chef suggested seven.”
“Perfect. Did you hear if Lish’s plane arrived?”
“Looks like Lish and Eric just landed. Do you suppose James wants to ride out in the helicopter this time to pick them up?
“I’ll text him.”
“Penny and Lynn wound up on the same flight. Lynn was saying they got so rowdy on the way over, the flight attendant threatened to throw them off. Penny said as long as they got parachutes, she was fine with that.”
“It’s going to be a great week. While we’re waiting for everyone to arrive, how about a toast?”
“Josh, Karen—out of the pool!”
Kelvin walked out to the cabana where Lavanya, Ali and Prior sat reclining. Josh and Karen walked over, wrapped in the oversized towels from the luxury rental. All raised a glass.
“To eight-figure book advances.”

Okay, that was pure silliness. But I figured that after the winter we’ve had so far, and the past two prompts, I figured we could all use a vacation. And apparently, one of the Pegman contributors deserves an eight-figure book advance. The rental in the photo is actually Bora Bora

I get to ride in a helicopter? Sweet. 😀

Surrealistic garbage like this makes me sick!
I hope it comes true. 🙂

Thank you! I dearly hope one of us gets some sort of big advance!

Words fail me, Karen! I was chortling so raucously as I read that the flight attendant came and told me to be quiet because I was disturbing the other passengers with my laughter! I don’t think I’ve ever been portrayed as a party animal before!
A wonderful piece of (very well written) silliness that well and truly chased away the winter blues!

I get eight figure advances all the time. The problem is that the first six numbers are all zeroes! Funny stuff.

I get those too, except their not called advances, they’re called bills!

well this is going to sound sooooooo cheesy – but I am completely honored to see the name Prior there – many thanks for that. I am still so new to the community and well, I never expected it – and as I read – and went from Rochelle to Penny and Lynn – I just thought how fun it was that you had this Fiji getaway for the writers from blogland (and it really was a fun idea) and then “moi” – HUGE smile here.
and so you can take my word on this – if I ever win the lottery – I will treat everyone to fiji – lol – everyone listed here (and of course some others cos we will need to fill the plane) lol

Well this is one way to get me to go on a vacations, it’s not the place it’s the people!
Tears f laughter are rolling down my cheeks, Karen. Such lovely, lovely, lovely silliness. I like where I was, who I was with – ALL of you – and Penny’s Parachute is now afloat in my brain. Great stuff. Yes, we must all do this one day. I did something similar on a short story competition in 2012 when regular contributors all met up for the Award competition for a national newspaper, it was weird meeting fellow online writers – not at all what we expected – but we have remained friends.

Hehehe! I’m so delighted to hear your reaction! Yes indeed, getting together with other writers is so memorable. I’ve been doing an annual pilgrimage to the Iowa Summer Writers’ Festival and met and made some of my dearest friends there.
